This PDF digital file is a knit pattern for a recyclable farmer's market bag, handknit tote bag, a beach bag or a reusable shopping bag. It is made with a garter stitch bottom, then picking up stitches and knitting rows of indian cross stitch to make the mesh.

This item is knit in the round using size 5(US), size 6(US) OR size 7(US) circular knitting needles and about 250 yards of dk weight yarn. The gauge is not critical.

I have made and used several of these. They are surprisingly light and small yet really strong and expand to hold a lot of stuff.
