Knit up a pair of finger flap mittens and a matching ponytail hat with this pattern, available as a digital download.

The ponytail hat is similar to a winter headband but shaped using short rows. It is knit in the round (no troublesome seams!) as are the matching mittens. The mittens are fully fashioned with a thumb gusset, and feature an opening on the palm side that can be flipped back to free the fingers to deal with phones, rail passes and other objects without having to take the mittens off.

This design is knit in the round with size 7(US) and size 9(US) circular or double pointed needles at a gauge of 5 stitches/inch. It will need 150 yards heavy worsted weight yarn for the main color and 100 yards of heavy worsted weight yarn for the contrast color - 250 yards total.
